About Barry Yacht Club
The Club was founded back in 1928 and has evolved quite a bit since then. It originally started as the Barry Yacht and Motor Boat Club, hosting races for both sailing and motor boats. In the 60s and 70s, dinghy racing really took off, with large fleets of Albacores, National 18s, and Mirrors regularly lining up at the start off Jackson’s Bay. More recently, the Club has shifted its focus toward cruising, with many members setting out on long-distance journeys, while others still enjoy the excitement of evening and weekend club races.
