About Kasmanda Palace
Kasmanda Palace is one of Mussoorie’s oldest and most historic buildings. Originally built in 1836 by Captain Rennie Tailour of the Bengal Engineers, it was part of the Christ Church complex. Over the years, the building has served many roles—from a sanatorium for British forces to one of the first schools in Mussoorie. In 1915, it became the summer home of the royal Kasmanda family. In 1992, Rajkumar Dinraj Pratap Singhji and Kunwarani Saheba Yadu Nandini Singh transformed the main building into the Kasmanda Palace Hotel, a charming heritage boutique hotel. Even today, Rajkumar Dinraj Pratap Singhji, along with his sons and grandsons, continue to visit and stay at the palace, which has been in the Kasmanda family for six generations. By 2014, the property marked 100 years under the Kasmanda family's care. The Kasmanda family originally hails from Kasmanda near Lucknow, one of the prominent Taluqdaris of Awadh.
