About Lake Lure Flowering Bridge
Friends of the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge is a local non-profit group dedicated to designing, creating, and caring for a beautiful flowering pedestrian bridge across the Rocky Broad River, along with the walkways on either side. Originally built in 1925, this historic bridge was part of the US 64/US 74-A/NC 9 highway until 2011, when a new bridge took over the traffic. After that, the bridge—known as Historic Bridge #7—was handed over to the Town of Lake Lure. Since then, community members have transformed it into a unique garden bridge, celebrating and enhancing the natural beauty of Hickory Nut Gorge for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
