Since opening in 2004, Pound & Pence by Merchants Hospitality has been a lively and welcoming English pub right in the heart of downtown Manhattan’s Financial District. It’s the perfect spot to escape the city’s nonstop pace. The space can comfortably seat up to 300 guests, offering a variety of cozy settings—from a tavern-style dining room and a classic bar to intimate ‘snugs’ that are great for private gatherings. Upstairs, the mezzanine living room features a pool table, a fireplace, and plush leather wingback chairs, making it an ideal place to relax after a busy day. The pub’s décor is rich with vintage English memorabilia, dark stained wood accents, and two stunning 10-foot sepia murals depicting street and pub scenes from the late 1800s. For sports fans, there are plenty of TVs and a huge 10-foot HD projector screen to catch all the action. On the menu, you’ll find a mix of traditional English and American dishes like Shepherd’s Pie, Bangers & Mash, Fish and Chips, Indian Chicken Curry, and Angus Beef Steak Burgers. The bar is well-stocked with British beer favorites such as Fuller’s and Boddingtons, various English gins, plus an impressive selection of Scotch and Cognac.
