Rich’s was founded in 1945 by Robert E. Rich Sr., who led a lab team in an innovative quest to create a vegetable-based alternative to whipped cream using soybeans. During this process, Mr. Rich discovered that the soybean mixture could be frozen, thawed, and whipped just like traditional cream. This breakthrough, quickly dubbed “the miracle cream from the soybean,” transformed food processing and opened up exciting new possibilities for non-dairy products within the rapidly growing frozen food market. This revolutionary product became known as Rich’s® Whip Topping® non-dairy topping and paved the way for a whole line of innovative non-dairy offerings.
