Stella’s Café & Bakery first opened its doors in December 1999 at 166 Osborne Street in Winnipeg. The founders—Tore, Lehla, Tomas, and Anneen—combined their skills and experience to craft a menu and atmosphere centered around freshly baked breads, soups, jams, and sandwiches, all made in-house and available for dine-in or takeout. With simple, healthy, and thoughtfully prepared dishes paired with warm, friendly service, Stella’s quickly became a local favorite. Their focus on quality and an unpretentious vibe helped Stella’s grow its reputation naturally, mainly through enthusiastic word of mouth—and people couldn’t stop talking about it.
