About Theatre Royal
The Theatre Royal, located on King Street within the MLC Centre, is Sydney’s oldest theatre and one of its top commercial venues. With seating for over 1,100 people right in the heart of the CBD, the theatre is set for a major refurbishment under ATG’s management. This upgrade will not only breathe new life into the space but also strengthen Sydney’s arts and culture scene, securing a bright future for this iconic venue. This announcement comes as the MLC Centre continues to make great strides in redeveloping its food court and retail areas, aligning with the co-owners’ broader goal to create a lively destination where people can shop, socialize, and enjoy cultural experiences. Carmel Hourigan, Chief Investment Officer at GPT, said the partnership with one of the world’s leading live theatre companies will bring significant benefits to the MLC Centre.
