About Dolce Bakery
Growing up, Russell Soffer’s best friend was Pac-Man, but his true passion was for games and sweet treats. Raised in his dad’s restaurant, he developed a deep love for baking. That passion gave rise to Dolce Bakery in 2011, a place devoted to serving the hospitality industry with the tastiest baked goods and pastries. “Dolce” means sweet in Italian—an ideal name for a bakery committed to crafting high-quality pastries at great prices. Plus, being Halaal certified, Dolce Bakery takes pride in maintaining excellent service standards. What started as a modest operation in a small 60-square-meter unit in Woodstock—with just Russell, his father Moshe, and three dedicated bakers—quickly grew in popularity. To keep up with demand, they moved to a larger space in a charming semi-industrial park in Observatory, Cape Town, enabling bigger production. About two years ago, they opened a cozy shop in Observatory. The inviting scent of fresh cookies and coffee fills the air, creating a relaxed atmosphere where customers can enjoy various newspapers, free Wi-Fi, and a lovely shaded outdoor area decorated with plants and a vibrant art mural. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and savor something sweet.
