About Granite Brewery

Granite Brewery was founded in 1985 by Kevin Keefe in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After training at Ringwood Brewery in England, Kevin wanted to bring authentic English-style ales to Halifax. A few years later, his brother Ron joined as a partner, and together they opened a location in Toronto. When they launched in 1991, craft beer was still a new concept to many people in Toronto, with the market largely dominated by big breweries and limited beer choices. Nearly 25 years later, Granite Brewery continues to craft distinctive, high-quality English ales in a community that has warmly embraced the craft beer movement. With Ron’s daughter, Mary Beth Keefe, now leading as head brewmaster, the brewery has expanded its lineup from seven to over fifteen seasonal and rotating drafts, specializing in cask-conditioned ales.
