About Lanterna Restaurant
La Lanterna Ristorante has been a beloved part of Yorkshire’s dining scene for nearly 40 years, right on Queen Street. Since Chef Giorgio Alessio took over in 1997, he’s dedicated himself to maintaining its reputation—once hailed by the Italian newspaper La Stampa as “the English temple of Italian cuisine.” If you’re looking for pizza, this isn’t the place. Instead, La Lanterna offers a more sophisticated taste of Italian cooking inspired by Giorgio’s roots in Piedmont, northern Italy. The region’s cooler climate and misty autumns influence a menu full of comforting, high-quality dishes—think game, risotto, pasta, hazelnuts, chocolate, and especially truffles, which are the restaurant’s signature specialty.
