About McLean's Pub
The building at 1210 Peel Street was originally constructed in 1910 by military tailor R.J. Inglis. In the early 1930s, it became the Rymark Tavern, which for over 60 years was a popular spot known for its pork knuckles and baked beans. Then, in 1992, the legendary bartender Ian McLean opened McLean’s Pub there. Ian was drawn to the cozy, welcoming atmosphere—complete with oak-beamed ceilings, a hand-carved fireplace, and plenty of unique touches. With his charm and carefully chosen team, he brought a fresh energy to the neighborhood pub scene. Though Ian has since passed away, McLean’s Pub remains a beloved downtown Montreal landmark, carrying on his legacy.
