About Reselo

Reselo is a Swedish materials innovation company developing sustainable, bio-based rubber alternatives from birch bark. The company’s patented Reselo Rubber is a renewable elastomer developed from birch bark, a forestry side-stream that can be transformed into a higher-value material through advanced chemistry and materials science. Reselo aims to help reduce dependence on fossil-based raw materials while developing high-performance materials for real-world applications. The research behind Reselo started as a research project at the Wallenberg Wood Science Center (WWSC) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Building on this research, Reselo combines materials science, chemistry, engineering, and industrial collaboration to develop the next generation of bio-based rubber solutions. Reselo Rubber is being developed for applications including footwear, tyres, and automotive components. In footwear, the material is being explored for rubber outsoles where flexibility, durability, grip, strength, and processability are important. Reselo is also working with industry and research partners to investigate opportunities in tyre and automotive applications. The company’s approach focuses on renewable resources, responsible resource use, and circularity. By using birch bark from existing forestry value chains, Reselo seeks to create additional value from a renewable resource. The company works with certified birch bark sources and develops scalable processes for transforming this natural material into functional bio-based rubber. Through continued research, testing, process development, and industrial collaboration, Reselo is working to advance its technology from research toward commercial applications. Its vision is to enable high-performance rubber materials made from renewable resources and provide manufacturers and brands with new bio-based material options.
