About Salisbury House
Salisbury House, often called "Sals" by locals, has been a beloved part of Winnipeg, Manitoba for 86 years. This iconic restaurant chain first opened its doors in downtown Winnipeg back in 1931, founded by Ralph Erwin. He named it after Salisbury Steak because he didn’t like the word "hamburger." Instead, he came up with the name "Nip" for their signature burger, referring to a small "nip" or bite of Salisbury Steak. Over the decades, Salisbury House has become a true Winnipeg staple, known for its quality food and local charm.
