About Broadstone Bar & Kitchen
The name comes from the staff bar on the Queen Mary ship, a place where many Irish workers gathered to drink and find a home away from home. This idea perfectly captured what the founders wanted to create, and they brought that spirit to the streets of New York City. It quickly became a favorite spot for a diverse crowd—businesspeople, celebrities, and well-known politicians alike—and that tradition continues today. The original restaurant was located in President Taft’s old townhouse on West 48th Street, right in the heart of Rockefeller Center. John was determined to grow the business, and over the years he expanded the venture with the help of his partners—Des O’Brien, Cormac McCormack, Ken McCoy, Eamonn Maher, Eugene Wilson, Noel Donovan, Pat Burke—and more recently, his two sons, Robert and John Jr. Today, the Pig ‘n’ Whistle Group includes 12 pubs and restaurants, perfect for everything from business lunches and casual dinners to private parties. Their locations span midtown Manhattan, the Manhattan financial district, and Dublin. While the bars have modernized to keep up with current trends, they’ve stayed true to their original spirit—a warm, welcoming place where everyone feels at home.
